SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Memphis Grizzlies will try for their best start since 2017, a 3-0 record, when they visit the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night, two days after one of the wildest finishes of the young NBA season.

Memphis trailed Golden State 106-94 late in the fourth quarter Friday at Chase Center before closing on a 17-2 run to win 111-108. The win ended an eight-game regular season skid at Golden State. The Warriors missed their last nine shots from the field, and Memphis strung together nine straight defensive stops.

Rookie Cameron Boozer put the Grizzlies ahead for good on a short jumper with 20.1 seconds left. He finished with career highs of 25 points and 13 rebounds to go with six assists. Ty Jerome led the team with 28 points, and Jaylen Wells added 17, including a four-point play that sparked the comeback.

Zach Edey’s work on defense may be the bigger storyline heading into Sunday. The Memphis center grabbed 10 rebounds, blocked two shots and posted a plus-25 rating against the Warriors, and he blocked a Stephen Curry three during the closing run. Golden State coach Steve Kerr praised his defense after the game.

Edey now faces Domantas Sabonis, who already has a triple-double this season. He piled up 27 points, 10 assists and 19 boards in Friday’s home loss to Portland, the 69th of his career. Sacramento is 0-2. The Kings won both earlier meetings between the two big men, though Memphis held Sabonis to 11.5 points per game in them.

The matchup also brings together two of the top seven picks from the June draft, with Boozer facing Kings guard Darius Acuff Jr., who scored 33 points against Portland.
