Introducing Memphis’ Sweet Vegan Revolution!
Welcome to Memphis, Tennessee, where a bright and cheerful college student is redefining the vegan dessert landscape, one cookie at a time! Meet Chef Alannah, an 18-year-old baking enthusiast and the proud owner of a charming little venture called โDance Like A Cupcake.โ You might think this is just another bakery, but hold on! Chef Alannah is on a mission to make delicious treats that anyone, regardless of dietary restrictions, can enjoy!
The Sweet Inspiration
So, how did this all begin? It all started back in 2015 when Chef Alannah was inspired by her brother’s food allergies. โGrowing up, we were always on edge when we hit the restaurants,โ Chef Alannah explained. โEvery time my brother would eat something, we held our breath, hoping he wouldnโt break out into hives or worse, have an anaphylactic reaction.โ This big sisterโs love quickly transformed into a pursuit for tasty desserts that are not just scrumptious but also safe for everyone.
A Unique Baking Experience
At โDance Like A Cupcake,โ everything that comes out of the oven is vegan and allergy-friendly. That means no nuts, no eggs, and no dairyโperfect for those with dietary restrictions! Chef Alannah reminisced about one special moment that sparked the name of her business: โOnce, I saw a little girl at one of my events. She took a bite of my cupcake, and without any hesitation, she began to dance! It was just so adorable! Thatโs when we thought, โDance Like A Cupcakeโ fits perfectly!โ
All in a Day’s Work
Fast forward to today, and Chef Alannah has been whipping up her delightful cookies for nearly ten years! It may sound like a piece of cake (pun intended!), but the reality is that the culinary world demands more effort than meets the eye. โIโm making cookies four to five times a week,โ she said, her eyes sparkling with passion. โSometimes it gets a bit crazy. I once stayed up until 3 a.m. just to finish an order!โ Itโs hard work, but with each cookie baked, thereโs a significant reward waiting.
Community Love and Connection
One of the best parts of the job? The joy it brings to people. โDuring events, people come up to me, sharing their stories about having nut allergies and how grateful they are that I can provide cookies for them. It makes me feel accomplished to see people enjoy treats without worrying about their safety,โ Chef Alannah shared with a smile. Itโs this heartwarming connection that keeps her going.
Where to Find Those Heavenly Cookies
If youโre curious about trying Chef Alannah’s cookies (and trust us, you definitely should!), you can find her goodies in several local stores, cafes, and restaurants around Memphis. But thatโs not where she plans to stop! With dreams of expanding her business into retail stores, the little empire sheโs building is showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
