Memphis – The Memphis Redbirds are gearing up for a day of fun and festivities as they celebrate Star Wars Day on Sunday, May 4, at AutoZone Park. The team will face off against the Louisville Bats, a Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, with the first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. CDT. Gates will open at 12 p.m. CDT, allowing fans ample time to enjoy the themed activities planned for this special event.
Fans are encouraged to dress as their favorite Star Wars characters for a costume party, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day’s activities. Attendees can expect special character appearances that will include storm troopers, a snow trooper, Darth Vader, and Mandalorians, roaming the concourse and delighting fans young and old.
The Memphis Redbirds will add to the theme by wearing specialty Star Wars-themed Ewok jerseys during the game. In a charitable twist, these unique jerseys will be auctioned off on the concourse, with proceeds benefiting Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Winning bidders will not only take home a piece of memorabilia but will also have the chance for a meet-and-greet with players after the game.
In addition to the game and jersey auction, fans can experience an immersive “Blast-a-Trooper” activity provided by the 501st Legion. This interactive experience promises to be an engaging highlight of the day.
Food and drinks will also embrace the Star Wars theme, with specialty concessions available for fans. Offerings include Yoda Soda, a refreshing green punch garnished with lime sorbet, whipped cream, and lime wedges for $7.50. The Bantha Burger, priced at $13, comes topped with hotdogs. A selection of themed drinks for those aged 21 and over features a red lightsaber drink, made with tequila, sprite, and raspberry syrup, as well as a blue lightsaber, which combines vodka, lemonade, and blue curacao. For families, kids 12 and under will be treated to a free ice cream sandwich, courtesy of Prairie Farms Ice Cream Sunday.
Younger fans will also enjoy the Kids Zone, featuring inflatables, an obstacle course, and a slide tailored for children under 12. After the game, kids will have the opportunity to run the bases, emulating their favorite players.
As part of the festivities, a Pregame Autograph Series will take place, where two Redbirds players will be available to sign autographs for 25 minutes before the game begins. This serves as a great chance for fans to engage with their favorite players.
This special day is part of a larger homestand that includes other themed events leading up to Star Wars Day, such as Cinco de Mayo celebrations and Education Day. For those looking to join in the celebration, more information and ticket purchases can be found at the Memphis Redbirds’ official website.
Overall, the combination of the game, themed activities, food, and interactive experiences make the Star Wars Day celebration at AutoZone Park a must-attend for fans of all ages.
