Raleigh covers much of the northeast quadrant of Memphis, centered on the Stage Road and Raleigh LaGrange Road corridors, approximately 10–12 miles from downtown.

One of Memphis's most populous neighborhoods by geographic extent, Raleigh has a working-class suburban character with established residential streets and strip commercial corridors. It has access to the Shelby Farms Greenline multi-use trail which runs from Shelby Farms Park into Midtown.
History
Raleigh developed rapidly as a postwar suburb in the 1950s and 1960s, served originally by separate commercial infrastructure from Memphis proper before annexation.
