The Overton Park Shell has revealed the schedule for the Orion Financial Free Concert Series, featuring 32 nights of diverse musical performances from local, national, and international artists. Notable acts include Kendrick P, Trombone Shorty, and The BoDeans, with a strong focus on showcasing Memphis-area talent. The series kicks off on May 16 and will also spotlight special events like DreamFest and the Sunset Symphony. Additionally, two benefit concerts are planned for September and October to support arts in the community.
Memphis, TN – The Overton Park Shell has announced the schedule for the highly anticipated 2025 Orion Financial Free Concert Series, which is set to run from May 16 to June 28, 2025. This annual event will host a remarkable lineup of local, national, and international artists across a span of 32 nights, bringing together a diverse array of music genres including classic country, NOLA grass, hip-hop, pop, and R&B.
The concert series will kick off with an opening performance by Kendrick P on May 16, followed by a full schedule that features renowned acts such as Trombone Shorty with the New Breed Brass Band on May 31, The BoDeans on June 14, and Alejandro Escovedo on June 20. Additionally, attendees can look forward to performances from local favorites like Chaparelle on May 29, Parker Millsap on May 30, and Steve Poltz on June 5.
Approximately half of the 2025 concert lineup will consist of artists from the Memphis area, showcasing the region’s vibrant musical talent. The selection of artists was revealed to the public on April 21, 2025, underscoring the event’s commitment to supporting local talent and fostering a sense of community pride.
The Orion Financial Free Concert Series will also include special events, such as DreamFest on May 18 and the Sunset Symphony, performed by the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, on May 25. These events add further diversity to the concert series, appealing to a wide range of audiences.
The announcement reiterated the ongoing challenges related to arts accessibility in the community, pointing to a pressing need for collaboration between arts organizations and economic institutions. Additionally, it was noted that the lineup for the fall season from August to October will be disclosed on July 7, 2025, creating anticipation for more events in the future.
In addition to the free performances, two ticketed benefit concerts titled Shell Yeah! are scheduled for September and October. The first event will feature Big K.R.I.T. on September 18, with tickets priced at $45 in advance and $50 on the day of the show. Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will follow on October 10, with tickets available for $30 in advance and $40 the day of the concert. Tickets for these concerts will be available for purchase starting April 25, 2025, at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.com.
The 2025 Orion Financial Free Concert Series will conclude with the Stax Music Academy Summer Showcase on June 28, closing out an exciting season filled with music and celebration.
