News Summary

The University of North Texas has appointed Josh Kahn as the new director of basketball operations, following head coach Daniyal Robinson’s recent hiring. Kahn, an experienced basketball operations professional, will oversee crucial areas including team travel, academic success, and budget management. His previous roles include assistant director of basketball operations at Cleveland State and recruiting assistant at West Virginia University. This strategic addition aligns with Coach Robinson’s vision to enhance the Mean Green basketball program, fostering a winning culture and improved operations.

MEMPHIS, TN – The University of North Texas men’s basketball program has made a significant change in its coaching staff by hiring Josh Kahn as the new director of basketball operations. Kahn officially joined the Mean Green staff on May 7, 2025, following the appointment of head coach Daniyal Robinson, who was hired on April 4, 2025.

In his new capacity, Kahn will be responsible for overseeing various critical aspects of the basketball program, including coordinating team travel, ensuring academic success for the student-athletes, managing the program’s budget, and organizing the day-to-day schedule. His role will also involve acting as a liaison between the basketball program and the athletic administration, as well as interfacing with the university’s campus community.

Josh Kahn graduated from the University of Arizona, bringing a wealth of experience in basketball operations to North Texas. Before his appointment at UNT, he served as the assistant director of basketball operations at Cleveland State, where he worked closely under Daniyal Robinson. During his tenure at Cleveland State, he gained valuable insights and skills that will benefit the Mean Green program.

Prior to his position at Cleveland State, Kahn worked at West Virginia University, where he held the role of recruiting assistant. His responsibilities included coordinating on-campus recruiting visits and managing travel itineraries for recruiting trips. Kahn contributed to the program as the Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) liaison, addressing emerging concerns related to NIL policies for the coaching staff.

Josh Kahn’s hiring is part of a broader strategy by Coach Daniyal Robinson to strengthen the Mean Green’s basketball operations at a time when the program is undergoing significant changes. Robinson’s appointment as head coach marks a new era following his successful stint at Cleveland State, where he developed a reputation for building competitive teams.

The basketball program has seen increased interest from fans, and Kahn’s administrative expertise is expected to enhance the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Mean Green’s operations. Fans wishing to support the team can easily purchase tickets through the Mean Green Ticket Office via phone or email, as well as online.

The transition to a new staff under Coach Robinson alongside Kahn reflects the university’s commitment to elevating its men’s basketball program. With Kahn’s experience and leadership, the program is anticipated to improve in multiple dimensions, including academic performance, operational management, and recruitment strategies.

The addition of Kahn represents a strategic move for the Mean Green as they aim to enhance the overall experience for both players and fans in upcoming seasons. As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on the developments within the program as Kahn and Robinson work collaboratively to establish a winning culture at North Texas.
