Exciting Times Ahead for Memphis: Tigers, Grizzlies, and the Return of the Pink Palace!

Exciting Times Ahead for Memphis! Sports, Museums, and More

Good morning, Memphis! It’s a gorgeous Thursday, November 7, and our beloved Memphis Tigers women’s basketball team is gearing up for an away game against Mississippi State. Now, hold onto your hats, because the Tigers have started strong this season with an impressive undefeated record—though, to be fair, they’ve only played one game. Still, undefeated is undefeated, right?

Mark your calendars because Saturday, November 16, is going to be a thrilling day for all football fans out there! The Tigers are going head-to-head against UAB, and here’s the best part: you could snag a pair of FREE tickets to watch the action live! How do you get your hands on those tickets? Just enter our giveaway before November 12. What are you waiting for? Get ready to cheer!

Goodbye, MoSH, Hello, Pink Palace!

Now, it seems our beloved Pink Palace Museum has decided to drop the nickname “MoSH” for good! Many of you might remember a few years back when the Pink Palace Family of Museums rebranded as the Memphis Museum of Science and History. Unfortunately, the whole “MoSH” thing just didn’t take off as intended. It led to a wave of confusion, with very few actually embracing the change. So, the good folks at the museum stepped in, waved their magic wand, and poof—no more MoSH! You can now officially call it the Pink Palace once again, but hey, if you still want to throw “MoSH” around, no one will stop you.

Grizzlies Show They Mean Business!

Last night was a big one for the Memphis Grizzlies as they took on the Los Angeles Lakers. And let me tell you, the Grizzlies had a clear mission: revenge! After being knocked out of the playoffs by the Lakers last season, the Grizzlies were ready to settle the score. They came out swinging with a whopping 131-114 victory! Our star player, Ja Morant, really brought the heat, channeling all that playoff frustration into his game. He recalled how the Lakers had laughed at him from the sidelines during their last match. Well, he showed them what he’s made of last night!

And it wasn’t just about Morant. Former Lakers players Scotty Pippen Jr. and Jay Huff also had something to prove after not getting their due time with the franchise. With the Grizzlies flexing their muscles, the atmosphere was just electric!

Local News You Can’t Miss

In other news, Memphis City Council Chair JB Smiley Jr. is planning to push for changes concerning gun safety regulations, a topic that touches many hearts in our community. Also, it’s worth mentioning that Shelby County recently observed its lowest voter turnout in several years. This brings up the vital conversation about engagement and civic duty in our neighborhoods.

On a Final Note

As always, a huge thank you goes out to the local journalism heroes who work tirelessly to keep us informed. Their efforts allow us to tackle issues affecting our community head-on. So when you see a local journalist, give them a nod of appreciation! Remember, supporting our press is absolutely key to maintaining a healthy democracy.

That’s all for today, folks! Stay tuned and keep an eye out for more incredible happenings around Memphis. Let’s make some noise for our Tigers, our Grizzlies, and of course, our revitalized Pink Palace!
