Memphis Police Issue Warrant for Shooting Suspect as City Remains on High Alert

Memphis on Alert as Police Hunt for Shooting Suspect!

Hey there, Memphis! Itโ€™s been a busy week in the city, and not in the way we love to hear about. The Memphis Police Department is currently investigating a frightening shooting incident that happened recently in College Park and is on the lookout for a man involved in the chaos.

What Happened?

Just before 11:30 AM on December 7, police were called to Garden Row Drive. It turns out that a man named Marquis Watts had a serious showdown. Reports indicated that there was an earlier altercation involving him and two other individuals, which spiraled into him firing shots at them. Fortunately, it seems that luck was on everyone’s sideโ€”he missed both targets, and, thankfully, no one was hurt in this alarming incident!

Watts is Now on the Run!

Currently, MPD has issued a warrant for Wattsโ€™ arrest, charging him with a laundry list of serious offenses. Among them are two counts of attempted first-degree murder, along with charges related to using a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, reckless endangerment, vandalism, and, to top it off, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. Talk about a serious situation!

The police are urging the public to step up and help out. If you have any information regarding Watts, or if you have tips about this incident, donโ€™t hesitate to call Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH. Every bit of information can make a difference in getting this suspect off the streets!

Whatโ€™s the Weather Report?

As we navigate through the gripping events in Memphis, let’s not forget about our weather! Tonight, brace yourself for a cloudy and chilly evening. The forecast predicts a high near 57ยฐF, with a 60% chance of rain this afternoon. Wind speeds will hover around 5 to 10 mph. If youโ€™re planning on stepping out tonight, you might want to carry an umbrella just in case a few showers pop up early on, reducing to partly cloudy skies later. Expect the temperature to drop to around 53ยฐF tonight.

Other News in the City

In other news around Memphis, the City of Germantown has made a bold move by banning house parties that require tickets, after a unanimous decision. So, if you’re used to those fun gatherings, it’s time to think of alternatives!

Adding a bit of holiday spirit to the serious news, the West Memphis Police Department is making quick rounds this season. With a humorous twist, theyโ€™re asking Santa for help in taking down some suspects that they claim are on the naughty list! A little light-heartedness never hurts, right?

However, not everything in the city is rainbows and butterflies. A man who spent over two decades in prison for something he didnโ€™t do is suing the City of Memphis for his wrongful conviction. His story sheds light on the critical conversations about justice and fairness in our city.

As we wrap up this news round-up, let’s keep our heads up and stay vigilant, Memphis! Whether it’s about local safety or staying aware of our surroundings in these colder days, always look out for each other. Remember to report any suspicious activity and help keep Memphis a great place to live! Until next time, stay warm and safe!
