Memphis – A series of shooting incidents in Memphis have led to arrests and ongoing investigations by local authorities. The first notable case occurred in southeast Shelby County on Friday, April 18, where 35-year-old Adrian Woodard was arrested following a shooting incident that injured one man.

The shooting took place at approximately 9:15 p.m. on East Shelby Drive, near a Walgreens store. Responding deputies found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Emergency first responders provided assistance, and the victim was subsequently transported to Regional One Hospital in non-critical condition. The incident prompted a swift investigation by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Violent Crime Unit (VCU).

Authorities determined that Woodard was involved in an argument with the victim, which escalated to the shooting. A warrant was issued for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault. On May 2, members of the Shelby County Sheriff’s Fugitive Apprehension Team located and arrested Woodard at his residence in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He has since been booked into the DeSoto County jail and is awaiting extradition back to Tennessee. The investigation into this shooting remains ongoing.

In a separate incident occurring just hours later, Downtown Memphis experienced another shooting on Saturday morning, just before 3:50 a.m. The shooting occurred at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and South Front Street. Law enforcement officers spotted a man dressed in all black fleeing the area of the incident. The suspect was chased down and apprehended behind Davinchis Restaurant and Lounge on South Main Street.

Upon apprehension, the suspect had in his possession a camouflage ski mask and a black handgun, believed to possibly be a Glock. Additionally, a black Infiniti Q70 was seen arriving at Regional One, carrying a gunshot victim who was initially reported in critical condition but has since improved to a non-critical status.

Moreover, another tragic shooting incident occurred in Frayser on April 22, resulting in two fatalities and another individual injured. Memphis Police announced that four warrants have been issued for suspects implicated in this shooting. Each of these suspects is facing serious charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and eight counts of attempted first-degree murder. Authorities are actively seeking information regarding the suspects’ current whereabouts in connection with the Frayser shooting.

The violent incidents in Memphis have raised concerns in the community, prompting law enforcement to enhance their investigatory efforts and appeal for public assistance in relation to ongoing investigations. The authorities urge individuals with information to come forward to aid in bringing resolution to these alarming events.

As the investigations progress, both local police forces and the Shelby County Sheriff’s office continue to work diligently to address gun violence and enhance safety within the community.
