Memphis Shines Bright: A Look at the 2024 Family Choice Awards!

Hey there, Memphis! It’s that wonderful time of the year again when families across the city come together to cheer for their favorite local spots in the annual Family Choice Awards. This year’s results, freshly unveiled, are trending with lots of familiar names and a few delightful surprises that reflect the spirit of our vibrant community.

Schools That Make a Difference

Starting with education, the competition was fierce, but the University of Memphis topped the list as the favorite college with Rhodes College and Christian Brothers University not far behind. It’s clear that Memphis families value quality education and these institutions definitely deliver!

In the K-12 category, the grand champion is St. Agnes Academy and St. Dominic School, showcasing just how much families appreciate Catholic education. Following closely are Woodland Presbyterian School and Christian Brothers High School, proving that parents are keen on giving their kids a strong academic foundation.

Dance, Music, and Gymnastics Galore!

On the arts front, the Collage Dance Collective pirouetted its way to the top spot, delighting families with their captivating performances. Ballet Memphis and the Children’s Ballet Theater earned commendations too, solidifying Memphis as a hotspot for budding dancers.

If you’ve got a mini rock star at home, the Music Box is your best bet for music education, clinching the top spot in music schools. School of Rock and the Memphis Jewish Community Center Early Childhood Center also received shoutouts from the community!

And for the gymnastics enthusiasts, Believe Gymnastics scored high, followed by Spirit Technique. This vibrant scene reminds us how important physical activities are for our young ones.

Fun and Play in the City!

Children need fun and excitement, and it seems the Memphis Zoo has stolen the hearts of many! Earning first place not once but multiple times for various categories, the zoo is evidently the go-to spot for family outings. With the Children’s Museum of Memphis and Discovery Park of America nipping at its heels, the options for family fun are endless! And a shoutout to the Orpheum Theatre Group for always providing extraordinary entertainment!

Dining and Shopping Delights

Moving on to dining, Memphis didn’t hold back in showcasing its culinary prowess. The iconic Central BBQ took the crown as the best barbecue spot, followed closely by the beloved One & Only BBQ and The Rendezvous. Whether you’re craving some ribs or a pulled pork sandwich, these joints have you covered!

If you’re in the mood for a slice of pizza, Memphis Pizza Cafe comes out on top, with Aldo’s Pizza Pies and Garibaldi’s Pizza rounding out the top three. Pizza nights just got a whole lot tastier!
