Memphis City Organizes Dumpster Day Cleanup Initiative for Responsible Disposal of Unwanted Items

Memphis Gears Up For Dumpster Day Clean-up

In a bid to keep its neighborhoods clean and safe, the City of Memphis has announced its next Dumpster Day cleanup event. This ambitious citywide event invites city residents to responsibly dispose of their unwanted items, clutter, and junk.

What is Dumpster Day?

Dumpster Day is a unique initiative by the City of Memphis to help citizens take an active part in maintaining the cleanliness and beauty of their city. The event provides a platform where city residents can easily dispose of old and unwanted items in an environmentally friendly and responsible manner.

When and Where is Dumpster Day Happening?

The event is slated to take place on June 8. The drop-off location is 940 Early Maxwell Blvd, with the entrance off Central Avenue. With a window open between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., citizens can come in at any time that suits their convenience and participate in this community-oriented event.

What Can be Disposed of On Dumpster Day?

This cleanup event welcomes a variety of items including household junk, appliances, and electronic waste, garden waste, and even old furniture. However, there are exceptions. Items like fuel tanks, motor oil, hazardous waste, paint, paint thinner, anti-freeze, pool chemicals, commercial waste, pesticides, batteries, animal carcasses, liquids, and tires with rims will NOT be accepted for disposal. The city also restricts the acceptance of drop-offs from commercial haulers, contractors, or anyone driving a U-Haul. Only single-axle trailers are allowed for conveyance of waste.

Why Dumpster Day Matters?

Imagine a day when every city resident takes time out to go through their clutter and responsibly dispose of unwanted items. That is exactly what Dumpster Day aims to encourage. It is both a service to the individuals and the community. By providing an easy, free method for people to get rid of junk, it helps not just to de-clutter homes, but also to prevent illegal dumping and keep Memphis beautiful.

How to Participate?

Interested residents can join the event simply by showing up at the specified time and location with their disposables. For inquiries and more information, they can make a service request by calling 311 or ask about community services by calling 211. Concerns related to dumpster day can be directed to 901-636-6500.

A Step Towards a Cleaner Memphis

Dumpster Day is an initiative that contributes to the City of Memphis’s commitment towards cleanliness and maintaining a healthier environment. It serves to encourage residents to take responsibility for their surroundings and foster a spirit of community and mutual effort in keeping the city clean.

The City of Memphis invites its residents to utilize this environmental-friendly service to declutter their homes and at the same time, help in maintaining the grandeur of Memphis. So, mark your calendars, prepare your disposables, and let’s all join hands to keep Memphis clean and beautiful!
