Throughout the 10-month program, participants will travel throughout Tennessee to analyze pressing challenges facing the state and propose actionable solutions. Leadership Tennessee emphasizes the significance of developing plans that can effectively address critical issues that impact the communities across the state.

A key goal of the program is to encourage nonpartisan dialogue among participants while fostering connections within a diverse network of leaders. The involvement of individuals from varying sectors aims to enhance understanding and collaboration over crucial state matters. Leadership Tennessee was established in 2013 as part of the College of Leadership and Public Service at Lipscomb University before evolving into an independent nonprofit organization in 2021. Since its inception, it has engaged over 850 residents of Tennessee, focusing on leadership development and community improvement. Participants in each cohort are selected by an anonymous committee based on their leadership experience and their understanding of the challenges faced by the state.

The upcoming cohort’s activities will commence in August 2025 and are expected to conclude in June 2026. This integrated approach allows the cohort to build on previous discussions and engagements, ensuring that the solutions they propose are aligned with the needs and aspirations expressed during community sessions.

Dr. Alfred Degrafinreid II, serving as the president and CEO of Leadership Tennessee, underscored the organization’s commitment to shaping the future of the state through its leadership programs. By fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation, Leadership Tennessee aims to prepare its participants to make significant contributions to the advancement of Tennessee. By selecting a diverse group of participants, Leadership Tennessee Class XII represents a commitment to cultivating a well-rounded understanding of Tennessee’s multifaceted landscape. The organization continues to play a pivotal role in establishing robust leadership networks that can effectively work towards sustainable growth and enhancement of the state’s, and residents’ quality of life.
