Location
Harbor Town occupies the northern portion of Mud Island, a narrow peninsula between the Wolf River Harbor and the Mississippi River, connected to downtown via the Mud Island bridge and the I-40 bridge access road. It is approximately 1 mile from the Beale Street entertainment district.

Harbor Town is among the quietest and most cohesively designed neighborhoods in Memphis. The community features rowhouses, craftsman cottages, apartment buildings, and townhomes on a traditional grid with alleyways. A small village commercial center with a grocery, restaurants, and a coffee shop serves residents.
History
Developed by Henry Turley Company starting in 1989, Harbor Town was one of the earliest New Urbanist communities in the South. It was designed by Duany Plater-Zyberk & Company, the leading New Urbanist firm. The development was praised nationally as a model for downtown residential revitalization.
