Evergreen is bounded by Vollintine Avenue to the north, Jackson Avenue to the south, East Parkway to the east, and Watkins Street to the west, directly north of Overton Park and within walking distance of the Memphis Zoo.

The Evergreen Historic District Association (EHDA) is one of Memphis's most active neighborhood organizations, organizing events, a community garden, and design review for renovations.
History
Developed between 1890 and 1940 as a middle-class streetcar suburb, Evergreen was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999. The neighborhood retained more of its original housing stock than many comparable Memphis neighborhoods due to active preservation efforts and the stabilizing influence of Overton Park to the south.
