Memphis – A new seafood restaurant called Docks Off 5th has officially opened its doors on Beale Street, taking over the location previously known as Jerry Lee Lewis’ Cafe and Honky Tonk. The Downtown Memphis Commission is excited about the addition, hoping it will attract local diners back to an area many residents have not frequented in years.

Carey Martin, the designer and general manager of Docks Off 5th, emphasizes the importance of local customers in maintaining business during the quieter winter months. As the restaurant’s second location of the New York-based concept, it aims to cultivate a loyal local following while offering a unique dining experience.

Docks Off 5th boasts a seafood-forward menu that includes dishes such as Chilled Oysters, Mussels, and Baltimore Crab Cakes, as well as seafood pastas. For those who prefer land-based options, the restaurant provides selections like Bourbon BBQ Glazed Lamb Lollipops and Cornbread Caesar Salad. Additionally, customers can indulge in a 90-minute Boozy Brunch, which features bottomless drinks for $30 per person.

The restaurant has made a commitment to creating Instagram-worthy experiences, promoting the idea that “the camera eats first.” Guests can expect beautiful presentations that enhance their dining experience. The aesthetic of Docks Off 5th includes a striking 17-foot-tall faux tree with a 20-foot canopy of greenery hovering above the dining area, enhancing the ambiance of the space.

Inside, diners can enjoy a main dining room adorned with plush velvet banquettes, as well as a parlor, a garden bar located in the grand courtyard, and an exclusive second-floor Elk Room. This Elk Room features three luxury bars designed to give a “colonial speakeasy feel,” creating a unique environment for guests to relish their meals.

Director of Operations Drew Doss notes that Docks Off 5th aims to become a culinary destination by showcasing a mix of signature dishes and locally-inspired recipes. The restaurant’s comprehensive menu can be found on OpenTable, making it easy for customers to explore their dining options.

Docks Off 5th strives to offer a combination of appealing ambiance, diverse cuisine, and exemplary hospitality, promising an unforgettable dining experience for both locals and visitors in Memphis. The restaurant’s opening is seen as a key move towards revitalizing Beale Street and bringing the local community back to this historic area.

As Docks Off 5th settles into its new location, the team looks forward to engaging with the Memphis community and becoming a favorite spot for seafood lovers and culinary adventurers alike. With its extensive menu and inviting atmosphere, the restaurant is poised to make a significant impact on the local dining scene.
