Arrest Made in String of Amazon Package Thefts in Shelby County
Memphis, Tennessee โ Itโs the most wonderful time of the year, but for some residents in Shelby County, the holiday spirit has been somewhat dampened by a series of package thefts. Thankfully, the Shelby County Sheriffโs Office recently announced an arrest that is sure to bring some cheer to the community.
Package Pilfering on the Rise
On December 10, the Shelby County Sheriffโs Office (SCSO) received reports of multiple stolen Amazon packages from homes on Scofield Drive, Belle Trees Drive, and Country Walk Drive. Imagine the disappointment of finding your front porch bare where a shiny package should have sat! Deputies quickly hit the ground running, piecing together the puzzle of who might be behind these festive thefts.
Detectives on the Case
As detectives delved into the investigations, they discovered a common link among the thefts โ the same vehicle and suspect were involved in all three incidents. Talk about a not-so-slick criminal! The detectives did some detective work, locating the vehicle in the 1300 block of Quailbrook Road, in Memphis. Once they had their sights set on the vehicle, they were able to identify 23-year-old Khristian Bradfield as the suspect.
A Close Encounter
Fast forward to December 13, when SCSO detectives decided to keep an eye on Bradfield. While conducting surveillance, they witnessed an adult male โ none other than Bradfield himself โ get into his vehicle wearing clothes that had been reported stolen from one of the thefts on Country Walk Drive. At this point, detectives knew they had enough to take action.
Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery
With the confirmation of their suspicions, SCSO patrol deputies conducted a traffic stop. Surprise, surprise! Bradfield not only matched the description but also had an outstanding warrant out of North Dakota. Talk about bad luck! After pulling him over, deputies searched the vehicle and discovered stolen property from the reported thefts. To add more to the situation, they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle as well.
Home Search Yields More Evidence
But wait, thereโs more! The investigation didnโt stop there. Detectives proceeded to Bradfieldโs residence on Quailbrook Drive, where they collected additional evidence related to the package thefts. Once again, it appears that Bradfield was caught in the act of his not-so-jolly ways.
Charges Filed
After a whirlwind of events, Bradfield now faces serious charges: three counts of theft of property valued at $1,000 or less, being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun, not possessing a driverโs license, and possession of a controlled substance. Itโs safe to say heโs made quite the festive mess.
Bringing Holiday Spirit Back
As the holiday season approaches, local residents can breathe a little easier knowing the SCSO is on top of things. The diligence of deputies and detectives has not only led to an arrest but may also help restore some holiday cheer to those affected by the package thefts. After all, everyone deserves to enjoy the magic of the season without the worry of thieves lurking around.
As always, the Shelby County Sheriffโs Office encourages everyone to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity. Stay safe and happy holidays!
