Cooler Weather Hits Memphis: Fall is Here!
As we step into the latter part of October, Memphis is starting to embrace the crispness of Fall. Just this past Monday, temperatures dropped a remarkable 15-20 degrees compared to the balmy Sunday we enjoyed. This sudden change in weather can be attributed to a cold front that confidently strode through the Mid-South, bringing a refreshing wave of cooler air.
A Cold Front with No Rain?
You might be wondering if rain was accompanying this chilly visit, and the answer is a bit surprisingโno! While this cold front did send temperatures tumbling and knocked humidity levels down significantly, it didnโt bring any showers along with it. It was a beautifully clear day, which is quite a treat, allowing us to enjoy the sunshine without feeling muggy.
What to Expect on Wednesday
If youโre planning your week, hereโs what you need to know: Wednesday is shaping up to be the coldest day in our forecast for the next week. Highs will only reach the upper 50s to lower 60s, bringing that cozy autumn feel. And if youโre an early riser or have early morning plans on Thursday, prepare yourself! Temperatures will dip down into the middle to upper 30s across much of the Mid-South, while Memphis itself might feel a bit more generous, sitting around the lower 40s.
Heading into the Weekend: A Warm-Up!
Don’t worryโchilly mornings will soon be followed by warmer afternoons! As we move toward the weekend, expect a delightful temperature increase. High pressure will slide its way into the region, which means we can look forward to warmer days ahead. Afternoon highs will bounce back into the comfortable middle 70s with plenty of sunshine to soak in. Perfect weather to enjoy a stroll in the park or gather with friends around a fire pit!
Why This Weekend Stands Out
With gorgeous weather likely gracing the weekend, itโs shaping up to be a top contender for the best weekend of the year. More people will be looking to embrace outdoor activities, whether thatโs a picnic at the park, a bike ride along the river, or perhaps just some relaxation time in the sun. Whatever your preference, be sure to take advantage of the lovely conditions!
Looking Ahead Next Week
Beyond the weekend, it seems like the trend for clear skies and warming temperatures will continue as we dive into the next week. Expect afternoon highs to remain in the pleasant middle to upper 70s, which is sure to lift everyoneโs spirits as we inch closer to the holiday season. While itโs possible we could see a shower or two return mid-next week, don’t get too worked up about it! For the most part, dry and sunny conditions are expected.
