Former Memphis Caregiver Charged with Abuse
A former home caregiver is facing severe legal repercussions after being charged with the abuse of a vulnerable adult in Memphis. 43-year-old Dammie Avant has been indicted with one count of abuse as per reports from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Investigation Uncovers Alleged Abuse
In August 2023, Adult Protective Services brought the case to the attention of special agents. It was reported that a vulnerable adult who was being cared for in a Memphis residence had allegedly been abused by their caregiver. Grand Jury Indictment
After thorough investigation and collection of supporting evidence, the case was brought before the Shelby County Grand Jury.
