SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Memphis Grizzlies found a different hero Monday night. Cedric Coward put up 16 points and 11 rebounds, and Memphis held off the Utah Jazz 110-105 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, to keep its perfect start intact.

Memphis came in as one of six NBA teams still without a loss, and the road win kept the Grizzlies unbeaten. It was also their second win over Utah in four games this season, after they took the season opener against the Jazz as well.

Ty Jerome, who arrived as the league’s top scorer, had a rough shooting night. After pouring in 45 points against Utah in the opener, he made just four of 15 shots for 15 points this time. He still set up teammates for eight assists.

The scoring was spread around. Jaylen Wells added 14 points, and rookie Cameron Boozer and Jerami Grant scored 13 each.

Utah lost two of its top forwards early. Lauri Markkanen hurt his right wrist midway through the first quarter, at the 5:58 mark, when his arm got caught between former Grizzly Jaren Jackson Jr. and Boozer. Markkanen had two points in six minutes.

Jackson, who came to Utah in a trade with Memphis, hurt his right knee and left with 10:04 to play in the second quarter after scoring six points. Neither forward returned, and both are set for MRI exams on Tuesday. Coach Will Hardy said Utah would learn more once the imaging is done.

The injuries hit Utah hard. Markkanen had been averaging 20.7 points through the Jazz’s first three games, and Jackson had been scoring 19.7 a night. For Memphis, the win showed the Grizzlies can grind one out even when their leading scorer is cold.
